For her first public activity of the new work year, Queen Mathilde made a visit to the Flemish Maritime Institute in Ostend, that uses innovative techniques to develop & research sustainable maritime practices.
As SDG advocate, Mathilde wished to be informed about the negative effects climate change is having on sea water, which is after all our planet's biggest ecosystem. #SDG14
Afterwards she was given a tour of the labs.
The visit ended with a boat tour onboard the "Simon Stevin" to look at the scientific research the VLIZ performs.
