Flashback: first activities

In the autumn of 1999, Mathilde d'Udekem made her first public appearances as the fiancee of crown prince Philippe.

At the Ecole Sainte-Jeanne de Chantal, where she worked as a speech therapist untill she became engaged to prince Philippe.

National Day 2016

The king, the queen and their children attended the Te Deum at the Saints-Michel-et-Gudule cathedral in Brussels.







In spite of the very tight security the royal family greeted the public.










Clotilde Boël acted as lady-in-waiting.









In the afternoon they attended the military parade at the Place des Palais, accompanied by prince Laurent.

Media and public critized the other members of the extended family who - despite receiving a dotation by the state - did not show up. 


Afterwards the king and queen visited the festivities and stands at the Parc Royal.





 






At night king Philippe, queen Mathilde and crown princess Elisabeth watched the fire works.
