Queen Elisabeth Competition 2016

As patron of the international Queen Elisabeth Competition, queen Mathilde is present at various performances.

The 2016 edition is dedicated to piano.

Queen Mathilde attended a concert of the first round at Flagey in Brussels.



She was accompanied by Clotilde Boël.

Queen Mathilde attended a concert of the first round at Flagey in Brussel. As per usual, count Yvan de Launoit greeted her at her arrival.




Afterwards she spoke to some of the students of the Music Academy of Court-Saint-Étienne and Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve.

Queen Mathilde attended a semi final at Flagey in Brussels. She was accompanied by her youngest daughter Eléonore (8) and by lady-in-waiting Lindsay Edwards.





Also present: archduchess Anna Gabriele of Habsburg.

Queen Mathilde and her son, prince Emmanuel (10) attended Evan Wong's semi final at Flagey in Brussels. They were accompanied by lady-in-waiting Lindsay Edwards.







Again, archduchess Anna Gabriele of Habsburg was among the audience.

Queen Mathilde attended the last semi finals at Flagey in Brussels, accompanied by Clotilde Boël.





She also stayed for the naming of the 12 finalists.

Queen Mathilde and king Philippe attended a final at Bozar in Brussels. They were accompanied by Laurence de Ghellinck.

Queen Mathilde attended a final at Bozar in Brussels in the company of queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

Queen Mathilde and prince Gabriel (12) attended a final at Bozar in Brussels.





Gabriel left after the first pianist had finished.





Like many others, Mathilde was moved to tears by the performance of Lukas Gondracek.


Saturday 28 May 2016

Queen Mathilde attended the last final at Bozar in Brussels. She was accompanied by crown princess Elisabeth (14) and princess Margaretha of Luxembourg. Clotilde Boël acted as lady-in-waiting.










They were present for anouncement of the winner: Lukas Vondracek.
