Emile Verhaeren

King Philippe & queen Mathilde visited Sint-Amands to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of poet Emile Verhaeren.


Hundreds of people had come to see the king and queen.

Lindsay Edwards acted as lady-in-waiting.

Philippe & Mathilde visited Verhaeren's grave on the banks of The Scheldt before being escorted to the Emile Verhaeren Museum where they visited the exhibition "Emile Verhaeren, a European Poet".


Court posted photos of Verhaeren in the company of king Albert I at the royal villa in De Panne in 1915.
