Mathilde, Philippe & their children Elisabeth (18), Gabriel (16), Emmanuel (14) and Eléonore (12) were spotted having lunch at Brasserie Buitenhof in Peizegem (Merchtem).
The family arrived on their bikes at the bistro, some 20 kilometers from their home. They had booked a table using the alias "Vermeiren". The royal family was accompanied by 6 federal police officers (also on bikes) and it was said one of the children's friends had come along. This was probably Prince Leopold de Nassau, the son of Philippe's cousin, Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg. The young man was living with the Belgian royals during his studies in Brussels.
Philippe & Mathilde both ordered pasta and water.
