A Day in Bruges

16 June 2020

As a way to support the tourism industry that has been hit hard by the corona virus, Queen Mathilde suggested making a visit to Bruges. Mathilde herself had contacted Till-Holger Borchert, director of the museums of Bruges, to ask how the museums were coping and if she could come to visit to promote tourism.

She went to see the exhibition "Van Eyck in Bruges" at the Groeningemuseum.

Afterwards she also made a visit to the Gruuthusemuseum.

At the end of the visit, she stopped at bistro Maria van Bourgondië to learn about how the cafés and restaurants of the city experience the end of the lockdown.
