For visits to Asian or African countries, Queen Mathilde often wears dresses or garments that have been designed by local designers, or are inspired by the local fabrics and traditional fashions.
In Jordan (2016): At a reception at the Belgian embassy Mathilde wore a dress by Jordanian designer Hama Hinnawi, who is one of Queen Rania's go-to local designers.
In India (2017), Mathilde wore two dresses by Indian designer Anita Dongre.
In Mozambique (2019):

One of the traditional capulanas Mathilde received in Mozambique was transformed into a dress by Belgian designer Esmeralda Ammoun. Mathilde wore the finished dress the same year to receive Congolese President Tshisekedi in Brussels.
In Congo (2022):
In Bangladesh (2023):
In South Africa (2023) Mathilde wore a dress of African inspiration, designed by Belgian designer Odile Jacobs.
During an SDG visit to Ivory Coast (in 2024) Mathilde wore this tunica by Bangaldeshi brand Aarong. It makes sense when you know that her previous SDG visit had been to Bangladesh, a year earlier.
