On the day her daughter Eléonore turned five, Princess Mathilde was present at the Dansaert Campus of Erasmus College in Brussels, for the presentation of the project "De eerste troost".
De eerste troost (First comfort) is a practical toolbox to help children who are confronted with a sudden death in the family.
A young journalist tried to bring Mathilde to talk about the death of her sister Marie-Alix in 1997, which Mathilde professionally avoided. She has talked about this specific painful episode of her life with young children who experienced a similar loss, but she's always made it clear to the press she won't answer any questions about the loss of her sister.
