On 15 November 2022 Queen Mathilde wore these striking vintage earrings for the first time in public.
They are a creation of Marie-Caroline de Brosses for René Boivin. Marie-Caroline de Brosses was known for her original mix of materials. In these earrings she combined gold and diamonds with ebony wood.
Marie-Caroline de Brosses was René Boivin's last creator. She died in 2019. The company was sold to Asprey, and later ceased to exist.
Mathilde's new earrings were bought at auction at Sotheby's Paris on 6 June 2018 for € 9,375. I have no idea who bought them.
