King Philippe & Queen Mathilde hosted a springtime concert at the royal palace in Brussels.
The guests were Belgians who help to innovate society.
The music was played by Fratres Trio.
For this concert, the piano was complemented a luthéal, an exceptional music instrument provided by the Musical Instruments Museum (MIM) in Brussels. The luthéal is a rare mechanism invented in 1919 by the Belgian organ builder Georges Cloetens. It allows a piano to adopt various timbres reminiscent of the harpsichord, harp, lute, and cimbalon. The French composer Maurice Ravel was the first to compose music for this instrument.
