20 kilomètres de Bruxelles 2022

For the second time in a row, Queen Mathilde (privately) walked the 20 kilomètres de Bruxelles, an annual running race that's recently been opened to walkers and cyclists.

Before the start she greeted Roberta Metsola, President of the EU Parliament.

Mathilde's son Emmanuel (16) ran the entire race, for the first time.

Mathilde and the children were waiting at the finish line when Philippe completed the 20 kilometers through Brussels run.

Federation of Nurses + Royal Warrant Holders 2022

In the morning Queen Mathilde received the directors of the National Belgian Federation of Nurses. They discussed, among other things, the mental health of the nursing staff.

Afterwards Queen Mathilde hosted a reception for the new Royal Purveyors of 2020 and 2021:

- Jaguar Land Rover BeLux.
- Meer Couture.
- LF Trading, a fabrics and upholstery firm from Izegem.
- Anciens Etablissements Goosse, a firm specialized in repairing antique chandeliers.

Pramila Patten + QEC Concert + Young Caregivers

Queen Mathilde had a meeting with UN Special Representative on sexual violence in conflicts, Pramila Patten.

Facilitating peace and ending violence and impunity are an essential part of the SDGs.

And in the evening she hosted a dinner for young caregivers (mantelzorgers/soignants) at the Castle of Laeken. 

King Philippe, who normally takes part in these dinners was prevented. He'd flown to Abu Dhabi (UAE) to present his condolences on the passing of Sheikh Khalifa ben Zayed Al Nahyan, and to meet the new President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyan.

Dag van de Zorg 2022 + Reception for Paralympians

For Heath Care Day, Queen Mathilde visited De Kindervriend in Rollegem, a school and residential center for mentally impaired children. The center also offers support to the children's families.

Mathilde was supposed to make this visit in 2020, when it got cancelled because of the corona pandemic. Still, two years on, here she is.

A second activity was a reception hosted by King Philippe & Queen Mathilde at the Castle of Laeken, for the paralympic athletes who took part in the Olympics and the Invictus Games earlier this year.
