Queen Mathilde attended a symposium at the University of Leuven on cancer during pregnancy.
The past twenty years, the KUL has investigated the repercussions cancer treatment has on the health and development of the (unborn) child. The research team is currently following a large number of children in Belgium and the Netherlands who regularly undergo clinical and psychological tests to see whether they develop in the same way as other children. The results are clear: their physical and mental condition appears to be just as good.

The Queen has followed the developments of this research project from the beginning. She's been to the previous symposiums of Professor Frédéric Amant in 2015 and 2010.
