At the end of 2024 Mathilde's cousin, Bénédicte de Brabant became engaged to Baudouin Nyssen. Bénédicte (°1987) is a daughter of Alain de Brabant & Krystyna Komorowska, a sister of Mathilde's mother Anne.
Another one of Mathilde's cousins, Matin de Brabant (MR) has announced his seat on the Schaerbeek city council, as "échevin/schepen" (alderman) for, among other things, regional planning, economic dynamics, culture, tourism, heritage, real estate management and as president of the local CPAS
On 31 January 2025, resigning MP Alexander De Croo met Crown Princess Elisabeth when he gave a conference at Harvard. He saw her sitting in the audience, and had a chat with her afterwards. According to De Croo's spokesperson Bernard Leyts, Elisabeth "looked happy even though she was more withdrawn than her fellow students. She was being careful. But she talked very openly about her experiences in the US."

According to VRT journalist Sandra Cardoen, Elisabeth, Gabriel and Emmanuel attended the catholic World Youth Days in Lisbon in the Summer of 2023.
