King Philippe & Queen Mathilde visited the Jan Yperman Hospital in Ypres that had been hit hard by the second wave of the COVID pandemic.

They talked to the staff about their experiences with COVID-19 and about the preparations of the extensive vaccination campaign.

Queen Mathilde visited the Centre for the Evaluation of Vaccines in Antwerp. 

She talked to the researchers & volunteers at the vaccine trial unit and she was informed about the current state of affairs regarding COVID-19 and a possible vaccine against the disease.

As UN advocate for the SDGs and as honorary chair of Unicef Belgium, Queen Mathilde took part in the Global Vaccination Summit that was held in Brussels.

After the symposium Queen Mathilde had a meeting with vaccination advocate Steve Berkley at the royal palace in Brussels.
