Flashback: Twinning in The Hague

4 December 2007

On the day of her 8th wedding anniversary, Princess Mathilde joined Princess Maxima of the Netherlands for a visit to the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, The Netherlands. They went to the opening of the exhibition "De schilderkunst der Lage Landen".

When Mathilde got out of the car, both princesses were surprised that the coat they'd chosen was so similar in pattern! Mathilde, who was 5 months into her fourth pregnancy, was wearing a coat by Natan. Maxima was wearing a set by Oscar de la Renta.

The media had a field day, claiming they were wearing the same thing. After the visit Mathilde phoned her unofficial fashion advisor, Edouard Vermeulen of Natan, to tell him "You never guess what happened" ...
