Pepinster after the Floods

16 July 2021

A day after the terrible floodings King Philippe & Queen Mathilde visited Pepinster, one of the towns that have been hit the hardest.

In total more than half of all Walloon towns and villages have been flooded, and parts of Limburg had a narrow escape.

It was announced that 20 July 2021 will be a Day of National Mourning, with more than 30 persons killed by the water and more than 130 still missing.

The National Day celebrations of 21 July will be scaled down.
