Leuven Brain Institute

As SDG advocate, Queen Mathilde visited the Leuven Brain Institute that unites all neuroscience research at KU Leuven, UZ Leuven and UPC Leuven.



Mathilde was guided round by Head Of the Department of geriatric psychiatry UPC KU Leuven, Prof. dr. Mathieu Vandenbulcke. 






Mathilde met patients & nursing staff of the "oud reach team", a mobile team of mental health workers that makes home visits to elderly people with psychiatric disorders.

Flashback: Koraal

Princess Mathilde visited made a visit to Koraal that organizes holiday camps for children during school holidays, in Schoten.




Mathilde also visited the Centre for Child Care and Family Support, housed at Horst Castle. It offers temporary accomodation for children up to the age of twelve who can't live with their families.

Flashback: Izegem, Ingelmunster & Harelbeke

Crown Prince Philippe & Princess Mathilde made a regional visit to West-Vlaanderen.

They arrived in Izegem at 9:45 to visit the shoe museum, Schoeiselmuseum.






An hour later they were in Harelbeke, where they visited brewery Van Honsebrouck. They both had a Kasteelbier Rouge afterwards. 



In the afternoon, the next town on their route was Harelbeke where the couple visited secondary school Guldensporencollege. 



The visit ended with a reception at the town hall and a walkabout on the town square to greet well wishers.
