Princess Mathilde was officially welcomed at the Belgian Senate & Parliament with a tour, nearly 2 months after her wedding to Crown Prince Philippe.
Because the new princess sometimes placed her hand on her stomach, Belgian & French media started speculating she had to be pregnant. This was false. A first pregnancy was announced in May 2001, 15 months after this visit.
