Queen Mathilde has become the new honorary chairwoman of the Federal Council for Sustainable Development.
Previously Crown Prince Philippe was the honorary chairman of the council: from 1993 until he became King in 2013.
The Council consists of environmental protection organisations and advises the government on sustainable development, also in an international context. Minister of State Magda Aelvoet is the chairwoman.
