Official Visit to Oman & The Emirates

King Philippe & Queen Mathilde made an official visit to Oman and the United Arab Emirates, focusing on hydrogen & renewable energy and the development of the port of Antwerp. They also visited the World Exhibition in Dubai.

Thursday 3 February 2022

Official welcome at the Al Alam Palace by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the sound of the Brabançonne and a 21-gunshot salute.


The King and Queen were received in audience by the Sultan to discuss the bilateral relations between Belgium and Oman as well as various topics of common interest. Queen Mathilde also met the Sultan's wife, the Honourable Lady of Oman.



The Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, wife of the Sultan hosted a private luncheon in honour of Mathilde.



King Philippe received Oman's civil order of the first class.

Visit to Duqm Port where they were received by the Sultan's brother.

 

















In the afternoon, Philippe & Mathilde left Oman and flew to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.

Visit to the World Expo in Dubai.
















With Emir Mohammed bin Rachid Al Maktoum of Dubai.






The departure from Dubai was delayed by a day. Both the pilot and co pilot of the government plane had had a minor car accident. Because they were given painkillers they have to wait a day before flying. 


Sunday 6 February 2022

A day later than planned, the government plane was able to return to Belgium.
