La Baïne
4 June 2020
Queen Mathilde made a visit to youth shelter La Baïne in Houtain-le-Val.
La Baïne accompanies children between 3 and 18 years who come from difficult domestic situations. They also help the families to restore or strengthen the ties with their children.
The Queen was especially interested in the follow-up of the oldest children, who will have to stand on their own feet once they're 18. A few months ago, Mathilde destined funds to support 18-year-olds in similar circumstances after the government cut their finances (see: https://queenmathilde.blogspot.com/2020/01/mathilde-invests-in-young-people.html).
She was also informed about the effect the corona virus had on the living conditions and mental health of the children.
