Belga shared this news: after her graduation from Harvard with a Master's in Public Policy, Crown Princess Elisabeth (24) will be taking a gap year.
Queen Mathilde already told the press a few weeks earlier she wants her daughter to have some extra time before she starts a lifetime of work for crown and country.
In an interview with Belgian reporters, Elisabeth added that after her intense academic career she now wishes to take "a year or a bit longer" to reflect on the way ahead and to take some time for herself. She doesn't know yet what she'll be doing (or she didn't want to share it with the world!).
My guess is we'll still be seeing her now and then, at the usual moments such as 21 July and Christmas, but also with small updates now and then. Elisabeth is the Belgians' favourite royal and I'm sure Court's communications department intend to keep things this way.
