Family: Hélène at Cancer Charity

Mathilde's sister Hélène was at a soirée for the 60th anniversary of the "Organisation européenne pour la recherche et le traitement du cancer", a European cancer research and treatment charity.

Guests of honour were Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Dina Mired of Jordan.

The soirée was held at The Merode Hotel in Brussels.

Book: Mathilde 50

A few weeks ago this new coffee table book was published, on the occasion of Her Majesty's 50th birthday.

The authors, both former royal reporters, unite lots of facts and photos in this shiny, respectful book. No new information or real biographical content though.

Hélène Brasseur

Queen Mathilde received Doctor Brasseur at the Royal Palace.

Marie-Hélène Brasseur is a Belgian doctor from Charleroi who set up a free health clinic in Seoul, South Korea, fifty years ago for underprivileged patients.

She's greatly admired by Mathilde who visited her twice:

Nowadays Dr Brasseur runs a small palliative hospice in Seoul for those who cannot afford care.

This was no doubt Mathilde's final acticity of the year.

Warmathon 2022

What a wonderful surprise! Crown Princess Elisabeth (21) and her brother, Prince Emmanuel (17) took part in the Brussels Warmathon.

The warmathon is an annual Christmas charity put on on by Flemish media, where runners can collect money for a charity. This year all funds are donated to organizations who work with the underprivileged.
