Prince Gabriel (17) joined his father for a flight aboard an A400M, one of eight new international military aircrafts used for strategic missions. From the cockpit and the cargo space, Gabriel & King Philippe witnessed two drops, one from low height and one at 10 000 feet with paratroopers performing free fall jumps.

Was this a hint that Prince Gabriel will also be joining the military, just like Crown Princess Elisabeth did after she finished secondary school? A day later court replied a journalist that Gabriel has no immediate plans in the military.

Children's Rights + Union Wallonne des entreprises

Queen Mathilde had a video conversation with Najat M'jid, Representative of the UN Secretary General on Violence Against Children and Benoit Van Keirsbilck, member of the UN Children's Rights Committee.

They discussed the report 'Hidden scars: how violence harms the mental health of children' and the effects the pandemic has on children's rights.

In the afternoon Mathilde had a second activity planned. As SDG advocate she took part in a virtual debate on the implementation of the SDGs by Belgian private firms and the public sector.

Then she visited pharma lab Tilman in Baillonville that hosted the debate.

Mathilde must have hurt her thumb, she was wearing a brace around her hand. Court only commented it was nothing serious.

Princess Mathilde attended the very first award ceremony of the Fondation Futur 21, a foundation that supports educational, humanitarian and medical projects that benefit young children.

The event took place at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo.

Queen Mathilde opened the online conference "Voices of Mental Health in Africa".

The virtual event was organized by Be-Cause Health, a mental health platform where Belgian mental health professionals exchange views and experiences.

Queen Mathilde visited the Brussels Circus School to participate in HandiCirque, a circus workshop for handicapped children and adults. The school is located at the Tour & Taxis site.

Green Office ULiège + QEC2021 Closing Concert

In the morning Queen Mathilde had a video conversation with students of the University of Liège who are implicated in looking for sustainable changes within the university.

At night Queen Mathilde & King Philippe, accompanied by their predecessors, King Albert II & Queen Paola, were present at Bozar for the closing concert of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for piano.

Belgian Cats

Queen Mathilde had a meeting with the Belgian Cats, the female Belgian basketball team that will take part in the European Championships and the Tokyo Olympics. 

The meeting took place at sports campus Lange Munte in Kortrijk. Mathilde was asked to take a few shots, which turned out to be a success! 

Mathilde told the Belgian Cats it would be too difficult to get to Tokyo because of the pandemic that's still raging, but that she and her family will be following all their matches on TV.
