Flashback: Nuts for the Battle of the Bulge

King Philippe & Queen Mathilde participated in the traditional throwing of nuts, in reference to the Battle of the Bulge in Mathilde's home town Bastogne.








They talked to American veterans who had returned to Bastogne after 70 years.

In Düsseldorf, Queen Mathilde was awarded the "Honorary National German Sustainability Award" for her contributions to sustainable development and to humanitarian causes.















Others who received an award were musician Annie Lennox, scientist Jane Goodall and actor Marius Müller-Westernhage.





Mathilde started and ended the speech with a few phrases in German.

Belgian Companies & the SDGs

Queen Mathilde hosted a round table talk on the Sustainable Development Goals with Belgian companies who make an effort to be sustainable, in presence of the Minister of Development Cooperation, Alexander De Croo.








The meeting took place at chocolate factory Belvas in Ghislenghien.

Pensionnat Jules Lejeune

Queen Mathilde visited the Pensionnat Jules Lejeune in Wezembeek-Oppem, a boarding house for 18 year olds who previously lived in care homes. The Pensionnat helps them on their way to independent living.
