Incoming State Visit #9: The Netherlands

King Willem-Alexander & Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are paying a state visit to their Belgian neighbours from 20 to 22 June 2023.

Tuesday 20 June 2023

Official welcome ceremony at the Place des Palais and the Royal Palace in Brussels.

After a private lunch, both Royal Couples were welcomed at the Brussels city hall by mayor Philippe Close. Followed by a walkabout on the Grande Place.

In the evening there was a banquet at the Castle of Laeken.

The Dutch Royal Couple is staying at the Castle of Laeken with the Belgian Royals for the duration of the visit.

Wednesday 21 June 2023

Visit to the Climate Tech Forum at Tour & Taxis in Brussels.

Queen Mathilde & Queen Maxima visited the Music Chapel Queen Elisabeth in Waterloo.

Lunch at the Château de Seneffe where Dutch & Belgian experts talked about water management, drought and the risk of flooding.

Visit to BioPark Charleroi.

Inauguration of a new comics wall in Charleroi.

In the evening King Willem-Alexander & Queen Maxima hosted a concert by the Amsterdam Sinfonietta at Flagey in Brussels.

Thursday 22 June 2023 

Visit to Imec in Leuven, a research center on nano and digital technology.

Arrival in Antwerp.

Visit to KMSKA, the Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, with a work lunch centered around youth unemployment. 

Visit to the Harbour House in Antwerp.

Visit to a Dutch and Belgian frigat in the harbour to underline the collaboration between the Belgian and Dutch navy.
