Corona: Mental Health Talk & Kamiano

14 May 2020

Queen Mathilde had a video conversation with Jennifer Pots of Tele Onthaal on the subject of mental health, one of the Queen's major points of interest.

Together with her youngest daughter, Princess Eléonore (12), Queen Mathilde made a visit to Kamiano, a social restaurant in the heart of Brussels run by the catholic Sant'Egidio community.

They'd brought along home made cakes and face masks.

While the Queen talked to those present, the Princess helped to distribute free take away meals.

The number of persons using social restaurants to get a free meal, and visiting food banks has risen dramatically these past weeks in Belgium.

One of the men present showed Mathilde a video on his phone, of her and the children in 2018. Mathilde said she remembered the occasion. It was taken at a remembrance service 25 years after King Baudouin's death, at the Soeurs de la Mère Theresa. Mathilde added that Gabriel was now a head taller than she is.

One of the ladies asked Eléonore some questions in Dutch about school.

Do you like going to school?
Yes!
How many children are in your class?
23
Where are you seated?
In the middle of the classroom.
Can you chose your own spot?
No.
Do you like sports?
Yes.
What's your favourite sport?
Tennis.
And what about music?
I play the violin. Elisabeth and Gabriel play the piano and Emmanuel plays the saxophone.
