Corona: Skype Call with Senior Citizens

2 April 2020

From her home at the castle of Laeken, Queen Mathilde got in touch with two care homes for the elderly, via Skype.

Mathilde contacted wzc Sint-Vincentius in Ardooie and had a 30 minute conversation with some of its residents and nursing staff, who in turn invited her over for a visit in person, once the crisis will have ended.

Mathilde inquired about the effect of the confinement on the daily life of the residents: how do they fill their days? Do they still get enough exercise? Aren't they lonely? How do they keep in touch with their loved ones?

She also shared that during the weekends she & her four children continue to bake cakes for residents of care homes.

The talk she had with care home Sainte-Barbe in Namur:
