Inside Mathilde's Office

Queen Mathilde's office at the royal palace has a particularly serene atmosphere.

The artwork on the wall is an watercolour by Hans Op de Beeck. Mathilde chose it because it reminded her of her happy childhood days in the Ardennes.

A bust of the late Queen Fabiola.

On the demi console behind her are photos of her family.

The bronze sculpture is by Nancy Vuylsteke de Laps.

Coffee table books on Belgian art through history are at Mathilde and her guests' disposal.

In her princess days Mathilde had another office at the Royal Palace, with a different atmosphere.
