No Dotation Yet

30 March 2019

In seven months time Crown Princess Elisabeth will turn 18. Court has announced their decision to not provide Elisabeth with a dotation yet at that time.

King Philippe & Queen Mathilde want to give their eldest daughter the chance and the time to lead as normal a life as possible in the years to come, when she will be studying abroad and probably following a military schooling.

Only after this period will a dotation be necessary, to pay for her staff and her official activities.

Belgian royals who receive a dotation are obliged to have an official agenda and a royal household and they must account for their expenses to Parliament and the Cour des comptes.

Until the summer of 2020, the Duchess of Brabant is boarding at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales. Afterwards she will no doubt move on to other international studies.
