World Economic Forum 2019

From 22 to 24 January 2019 King Philippe & Queen Mathilde attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Attending the session "Shaping Globalization 4.0". Queen Mathilde is seated next to Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia.

With the World Bank's CEO, Kristalina Georgieva. Queen Mathilde has been appointed as a World Bank Human Capital advocate.


Meeting with social entrepreneurs at the Schwab Foundation.



With Silvana Abdo, first lady of Paraguay. They talked about sustainable development. Mrs Abdo invited the queen to her country for a visit, and as a departing gift gave Mathilde an artisan handmade poncho from Paraguay.






Discussing mental health with  Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director of the World Health Organisation WHO.


In the evening Queen Mathilde attended a dinner at the Morosani Hotel in Davos.
Queen Rania of Jordan was also seated at her table.

At the session "Closing the Financing Gap". Mathilde was sitting next to Indian Young Global Leader Armstrong Pame.

The day ended for the royal couple with a Belgian Power Reception in order to promote Belgium in the presence of foreign investors.
