Enthronement

On 21 July 2013, Belgium's National Day, Crown Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde became the 7th King and Queen of the Belgians.

In the morning there was a Te Deum at the Saints-Michel et Gudule cathedral in Brussels.








After king Albert II signed his abdication at the Throne Room of the Royal Palace, king Philippe took the oath in Parliament.






Philippe took the oath as 7th King of the Belgians in Parliament.












Mathilde's family watched the ceremony from the balcony.













The former and new royal couple appeared at a balcony of the royal palace.














In the afternoon the entire family attended the traditional military parade at the Place des Palais.


















A walk through the Parc Royal.



At night the new royal couple once again appeared on the balcony.
